does a small fracture of distal fubula always require a plaster cast? Mine wasn't plastered as I could walk on it with care but I have to go to fracture clinic for follow up
Hi,
Plaster casts are generally most often used for a fracture of the tibia, the bone that bears weight in the lower leg. The fibula does not bear weight but serves as an attachment for muscles and ligaments and thus does not require immobilization such as a plaster cast.
