Missing lower back disk
Question: Hi, My girlfriend has a missing disc in her lower back. And she suffers from horrible horrible back pain most nights. She sees a doctor occasionally for it. But all they do is give her pain pills. Sometimes when her back hurts so bad her legs go numb and she falls. I just wanted to know if there is anything we can do to help the pain. Or help her condition?...
Answer: There are quite a few treatment recommendations I could make other than just pills. I would suggest going to see a physical therapist that specializes in spinal disorders to get on a specific exercise program. Exercise has been demonstrated to be effective in helping chronic back pain, given the patient is being consistent in performing the exercises. Utilizing ice can also be a temporary help. For chronic pain acupuncture could also be of benefit.
Hope these suggestions help.
