i had an operation to my right knee. actually my problem is at starting stage when i get down steps i feel the joint is loosing, and pain will stars after two years one tear has formed in knee center. when that comes b/w joints pain will start and swelling also will come.then i had operation,he removed the infection, but my both legs are getting locked when i try to open sound will come.

Well, your issue is difficult to comment on because you have a number of things that could be going on. It could be that there is still some internal issue that is causing the swelling and locking. Popping, snapping, and other sounds are never anything to be concerned about unless there is pain.

As to what you could do to help improve your situation I would recommend the following:

1. Apply ice (no heat!) to your knee, 10 minutes at a time, 3 times a day. This will reduce the swelling.

2. Consider using a stationary bike to help encourage range of motion and reduce swelling.

3. Look under the page under the 'knee' tab on the site that talks about meniscus tears. Follow the link to the specific exercises recommended.

Follow this recommendation for at least 6 weeks on a consistent basis. If symptoms continue after 6 weeks of consistently following the plan, see a doctor for another evaluation.

Good luck!
