Question: What is better for hip arthritis ice or heat?
Answer: Unfortunately, research is not clear on which is best. I am a believer in first trying to utilize ice. If you have inflammation, heat can make inflammation worse. Thus, ice is a safer place to start. I recommend utilizing frozen peas for 15 - 20 min. Do not put the ice over clothing as it will not get cold enough. Instead, utilize a WET washcloth and put that between your skin and the ice/frozen peas. Keep on for 15-20 min and repeat a few times a day.
